kola is a personal WhatsApp automation running on a WhatsApp number owned and controlled by the operator of this deployment. It reads messages in chats it is added to, generates replies with AI models, and can send messages, voice notes and reactions.
data collected and stored
- message content and metadata from chats kola participates in, stored in a database for memory and context
- session backups of the linked WhatsApp login, stored on the server and in object storage (S3)
- operational logs (message events, errors) visible on the admin dashboard
third-party services
- AI providers (text generation, speech, vision) process message content to produce replies
- hosting and networking: AWS, Cloudflare, Neon (Postgres)
- search and price lookups (Tavily, DuckDuckGo, CoinMarketCap) when asked about live data
responsibilities of the operator
- only automate a WhatsApp account you own or are authorized to use; unofficial automation may conflict with WhatsApp's terms of service
- respect the privacy and consent of the people kola chats with, and local laws on automated messaging
- keep dashboard credentials and API keys secret
